Round 1 matches to be played this weekend
The changes to restrictions announced by the State Government today allow competition tennis to resume. We are therefore pleased to advise that the NSJTA Season 2 competition will commence this weekend — Friday 30 and Saturday 31 July 2021.
Based on feedback from clubs, we have postponed the start of the season and rescheduled matches so hopefully all 14 rounds can still be played. Matches this weekend will be the Round 1 matches listed on the original fixture.
We have added two additional weekends to make up for the two weeks the season was delayed.
• Matches will now be played on the first weekend of the September school holidays (Friday 17 and Saturday 18 September 2021).
• The end of the season has been pushed back by one week. Grand Finals will now be played on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 December 2021 and the Spare Finals weekend is Friday 10 and Saturday 11 December 2021.
An updated fixture can be downloaded here. The dates have been updated on page 6. The A Reserve 2 Boys Friday six-team draw fixture and League Manager will be updated shortly.
The Committee has decided that no further changes will be made to this fixture. In the unfortunate event that matches are affected by future lockdowns, the matches will be treated as washouts and the points split between the two teams.
We remind everyone to ensure they comply with the NSJTA COVID‐Safe competition guidelines. In addition to those requirements, under current restrictions no spectators are allowed. Only the minimum number of people required for the competition are permitted at venues (people necessary for the competition such as umpires, parents and guardians are allowed).
NSJTA Update – 20 July 2021
As the State Government has extended the lockdown by a week, NSJTA matches will not be played this weekend.
The Match Committee is discussing options for the season, and we will provide further details once we have more
information about restrictions.
We hope everyone stays safe, and we will provide further updates when possible.
Start of Season 2 postponed
The State Government has announced a 5 day lock down from 11.59 pm tonight. As a result, NSJTA matches will not be played this weekend and we have postponed the start of the season by one week.
Assuming the lockdown ends after 5 days as planned, Round 1 matches will be played on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 July 2021. A Grade teams therefore have until next weekend to submit their seedings details.
We will issue a revised fixture in the coming days.
Match results
Arrangements for match results for this season are outlined below. Further detail can be downloaded here.
Seedings for A level teams
• Please email your seedings to results@nsjta.org.au for all A level teams (Friday and Saturday) so we can load the seedings into League Manager. These should not be sent to Grade Secretaries.
• The seedings sheet can be downloaded here.
• In the email subject line, please put the club first, then the grade and include whether it is a boys or mixed grade, for example: Buckley Park A Grade 1 Mixed seedings
Saturday morning grades
• The home team manager should continue to email a photo or scanned copy of the match result to the relevant Grade Secretary (a list of Grade Secretary email addresses has been provided to Club Delegates)
• The subject of the email should be the grade and round of the match, for example: A Grade 1 Mixed Round 1
Friday night grades
• For Friday night grades, we intend to trial clubs entering their own results directly into Match Centre.
• The home club should enter the result online within 24 hours of the conclusion of the match.
• The away club should then confirm the result within 48 hours.
• Instructions on entering and confirming results can be found here.
• Until at least Round 3, the home team manger should also email a photo or scanned copy of the match result to results@nsjta.org.au. This will allow us to check the result has been entered correctly and deal with any issues. We will provide an update on how the trial is going at the first Delegates meeting, and then decide whether or not to continue emailing results.
