Supervision of children

Supervision of children

To all clubs, parents and guardians,

The NSJTA is committed to ensuring our Association is a safe and friendly environment for children and young people.

As part of this commitment, we require all children aged under 18 participating in our competition to be accompanied by an adult (a person over 18 years) at all times.

It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to ensure their children are appropriately supervised. Parents/guardians must not just drop their children off and assume that the team manager or court supervisor will look after their children.

If a parent/guardian cannot be present for the whole match, they must proactively speak with another adult and arrange for them to supervise their child while they are not present. This includes staying with the child at the venue until the parent/guardian returns.

It is a breach of the Association’s Child Safety commitment and our By-laws for children to be left unsupervised. We have a zero-tolerance approach to any behaviour that risks the safety of children. Clubs will be immediately fined $100 if we receive a report of children being left unsupervised.
